President's Message – March 2017

Greetings PD members,

The PD Council of Leaders held its first meeting to review our current state and to set the stage for transforming our nearly 40 year-old agency with longstanding business operations into a 21st century organization. The Board is committed to enhancing member value through operational excellence. A key outcome of what was a very thoughtful discussion was the creation of the PD Leadership Covenant – meaningful guidelines that our Board of Directors, Charitable Fund Board Members and Past Presidents agree to embrace as we embark upon this journey to create a sustainable vision and strategic plan for the next generation of Women Who Inspire.
As leaders of PD we are committed to:

  • Supporting our PD Sisters through all dimensions of our lives, finding joy and support in our PD relationships, and maintaining a sense of humor, humility and perspective
  • Fostering an environment of honest and open communication about who we are and what we stand for
  • Focusing on delivering membership value grounded in our four tenets: Leadership, Networking, Diversity and Community
  • Honoring our past and legacy, while being flexible toward our future and accepting change
  • Exhibiting professionalism in all our interactions with each other

We are holding ourselves to this Leadership Covenant and I encourage all PD Members to do the same. I will keep you updated on organizational change efforts and we will be engaging all PD Members to participate in the process to reimagine the future of PD. Until then, allow me to remind you of an inspirational African Proverb - If You Want To Go Fast, Go Alone. If You Want To Go Far, Go Together!
