History

Professional Dimensions was formed in 1978 by three Milwaukee businesswomen. Their goal was to provide a network of support and communication among other business and professional women. It is now the largest women’s membership organization in Wisconsin that is dedicated to the leadership and professional advancement of women. Current membership is over 350 women who strive to make Professional Dimensions an organization that supports all dimensions of a woman’s life.

 

The Four Tenets

  • Leadership - Direction and vision on issues affecting professional women
  • Diversity - Programs and membership that represent a variety of professions, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and perspectives
  • Community - Committed to long-term change on critical issues facing our community
  • Networking - Ample opportunities for exchange among members and other civic and professional groups

Cornerstone Programs

Membership Meetings

Members meet monthly to network and hear speakers on topics of interest.

  • Held twice a month, September through June
  • Alternate between lunch and dinner meetings
  • Third-Thursday casual meetings held around town
  • Annual Holiday Party
PD Charitable Fund

Supports programs that are dedicated to the economic self-sufficiency of women and girls.

  • Developed as the conduit for PD community service projects
  • Donated over $1 million in the Milwaukee community since its formation in 1985

Sacagawea Award

This award is presented annually to two outstanding women leaders in Milwaukee. Recipients are trail-blazers chosen for their career accomplishments, commitment to community, support for the advancement of women.

  • Named for Sacagawea, a woman of great foresight, leadership, intelligence, common sense, and adaptability who was a key member in the 1803-1806 Lewis and Clark expedition
  • Awardees honored at the annual Sacagawea Dinner

Race Relations Initiative
  • Professional Dimensions is committed to racial justice
  • Conversation Circles bring together women of all ethnic backgrounds to discuss issues important to our community
  • Focus is on women’s leadership growth and to breaking down barriers
